An alumni of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Deborah Millar continued her studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, completing a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance, followed by a Master's Degree in the Opera Diploma Program. Deborah continued on to Europe to obtain her Doctorate in Lausanne, Switzerland. There she was awarded the first prize in Voice Performance which led to her debut in a recital of opera arias with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the direction of Jean-Paul Auberson and a scholarship at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria to finish her private vocal studies with Rudolf Knoll. Deborah remained in Europe for over sixteen years enjoying a successful career as a soloist and voice teacher. She has performed and led workshops in France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Israel, Germany, Belgium and North America. As a voice clinician, her wide range of training includes a twelve year collaboration with Swiss voice therapist and surgeon Dr. M. L. Marco-Dutoit, working with voice trauma and vocal injury patients.
Particularly drawn to 20th century opera, Deborah has sung in the leading roles of operas by Kurt Weill such as Anna Maurant in Street Scene, Susan B. Anthony in Virgil Thomson's Mother of Us All, (Canadian premier) and Madame Dufarge in Arthur Benjamin's A Tale of Two Cities, among others. Since her return to Canada, Deborah has also premiered several new works by Canadian composers, performed a new Canadian work Into the Darkness at the Centerpoint Theatre in Ottawa and completed a recital series in Western Canada with Canadian pianist and composer Lorna Paterson.
Deborah is especially appreciated for her authenticity and powerful presentation in her stage work, which has allowed her to have a varied and rich repertoire including works by Stephen Sondheim and Jacques Brel. As a teacher, her dynamic insights into the world of vocal pedagogy and her enthusiam and love for the human voice have been appreciated by her students worldwide.

Une ancienne élève du Victoria Conservatory of Music, Deborah Millar obtient son Baccalauréat en musique à l'université Wilfrid Laurier puis sa maîtrise dans le programme de diplôme d'opéra. Deborah obtient ensuite son doctorat dans les arts musicaux è Lausanne, Suisse. Elle reste en Europe pendant plus de seize années ou elle poursuit avec grand succès une carrière de soliste et de professeur de voix. En tant que clinicienne de la voix, elle collabore pendant douze ans avec le Dr. M. L. Marco-Dutoit, une thérapeute et chirurgienne Suisse spécialiste en soins de la voix chantée.
Deborah est particulièrement appréciée pour son authenticité et incroyable présence sur scène, ce qui lui a permis de se doter d'un répertoire riche et varié comprenant les oeuvres de Kurt Weill, Stephen Sondheim et Jacques Brel.
